Carbon Footprint

So I was thinking about how hot it is getting this summer because of all the conspicuous consumption & fossil fuel burning airplanes, cars, boats.  I mean I’ve tried to tell people about the moral requirements of using mass transit, not using HVAC systems, and not buying quality automobiles.  So then, my friend Cardinal Kasper the Unfriendly Ghost came by and was like:

‘Papa Frank, your like totally missing the point, KIDS — even though they have itty-bitty footprints, they have like MASSIVE Carbon Footprints.’

and then he was like:

‘we’ve already convinced most Catholics to stop believing and breeding like rabbits; but you need to double down on those pesky Catholics always having babies and asking us to baptize them’

So now I’m like:

So Much Theology!

So Benny stopped over last night and forced me to read my illustrated children’s version of the Bible.  So, now that I’ve got like TONS of knowledge:

A Concerned Father on Father’s Day

Being a father, I am entitled to be concerned about the state of the world in which I am raising my children.  Like my father before me, I too want to raise my children in a world safe and hospitable to the faith.  I realize, however, that the ‘rest of the world’ ceased being a ‘safe space’ for the nurturing of children in the Catholic faith quite a long time ago.  The new, deeply concerning turn is that now we face not only a hostile world, but pastors who are willfully leading us to the slaughter.

Being a simple man, I must ask myself: given we have but a breif time on this Earth, would not we spend our time talking about the issues most important to us?

Given the response of so many of the Bishops of the Church to the developments of the modern world seems to be:

  • Introspective Self-Accusation of Western Societal Guilt
  • Issue obfuscation and a level of malleability that would make jellyfish seem downright rigid.
  • A greater sensitivity to the ‘feelings’ and ’emotions’ of those who would persecute the Church and her members than to the actual needs of the members of the Church.

Why, then, does Pope Francis seemingly constantly undermine what are essentially very simple and straightforward teachings of the church?  Why are his, and so many bishops, most deep-throated pronouncements aimed at accusing, in quite a pharisaical manner, those who actually hold to the faith as being Pharisees?

It is a very scary time to raise children because now, for us laymen, not only is the world against us; but we may find that our own ecclesial leadership has their hand tightly wrapped around the knife in our back.

All, however, is not lost.  We can remember that often, in seemingly the darkest hours, the faith has prevailed against all odds.  Lepanto & Vienna.

Sister Pantsuit: Social-Justice Warrior Alert

#endfathersday

As people of God we must attone for historical acts of discrimination and oppression.  It is unconscionable that, in our modern world, we still have a holiday set aside to celebrate the patriarchy.  In addition to celebrating a group of people who have, for centuries, relegated women to the pews and kitchens of the world, “father’s day” is divisive.  Those supporting this holiday further heteronormative concepts and deny the great contributions any gendered person can have in fulfilling the roles traditionally understood as “fatherly”.  Great strides have been made in breaking down the barriers of traditional family roles first by changing that most basic “prayer”, the sign of the cross.

For years I have supported the far more inclusive “Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier” formula for baptisms.  Unfortunately the patriarchy in Rome has constantly shot this idea down.  We do have hope now, though, with Papa Frank.

Until the day that we’ve truly reached gender equality in the Church and in the world, I invite you to stand with me and demand that we:

Father’s Day Blessings to Super-Dads

Some people have so many gifts to bring to the Church.  I wanted to make sure they all get recognized espeically those who have been traditionally “shut out” from the Lord’s Banquet.

Only Diamonds are Forever

Another great day counseling couples.  Just recently I saw Papa Frank mentoring these souls:

Only DiamondsSuch wisdom in such simple words.  Obviously there is no way for a couple such as this to comprehend ’till death do us part’…the only compassionate thing to do is to offer them an “out” in case something goes bad.

False Structuralism

Too often we discriminate and seperate people from the table of the Lord based on whether or not they genuflect correctly, kneel and stand at the proper times during mass, or if they fit out construct of how God works…that’s why:

A Pope who Understands the Concerns of the People

The importance of bringing the church into the modern era is paramount.  This process necessitates the ammending of both our beliefs and our practice.  This is impossible without a malleable man at the helm who understands the plight of his people.  Papa Frank, just days ago, displayed his keen grasp of the hesitation of young people to enter a social contract like marriage.  Here’s an enlightening interaction:

Young People Don’t Understand Forever

So in my recent comments about most marriages being invalid I noted that lots of young people are just living in a culture of the provisional.  I mean, they may be adults, they might be able to sign a contract, but they don’t really know what forever and ever means.  I mean, It could mean a really long time!  One of the ‘spouses’ could get ugly, cold, mean, engage in what some people chose to call ‘sin’ and if we don’t give these people annulments then they’d like be stuck with the person.  That’s why I’ve directed my pal, Cardinal Kasper the Unfriendly Ghost to implement a new campaign to call attention to the extent of my new program.  Hopefully, very soon, in a parish near you, you will see informational posters like:

Apostolic Blessing: #Cohabit8ers

So it really get’s me down in the dumps when I hear people talking about Cohabition as if it were somehow like objectively wrong.  Well, cohabitators have many gifts they can bring the Church and we shouldn’t deny that they often have grace filled sacramental marriages! Thus it is my intent to extend an Apostolic Blessing to all those living in this situation.
